The Inspiration Behind Creating the Unique TeamMed: Medical Planner App

For anyone navigating the challenging waters of chronic illness, whether as a patient or a caregiver, the journey can feel incredibly overwhelming. The endless appointments, managing symptoms, coordinating meal trains, and keeping track of prescriptions can quickly lead to stress and anxiety. I know this firsthand because I've walked that path myself.

My name is Susanne Riley, and I am a fellow caregiver. In November of 2022, my beloved spouse, Jonathan Riley, passed away after a three-year battle with Stage 4 Nodular Malignant

Melanoma. Jonathan and I were in our late 30s when he was diagnosed, and during those years, I experienced the fear, anxiety, and sheer exhaustion that comes with caring for a loved one with a chronic illness. As a mom to young children and working part-time as a surgical assistant in orthopedic surgery, and a full-time caregiver I was constantly stretched thin. I desperately needed help, peace of mind, and above all, my husband.

In my search for tools to ease the burden, I looked for various apps: a perfect cancer app, an ideal appointment app, a social app, a symptom tracker, and more. I ended up with six different apps and eight medical portals. While each was great in its own way, my phone couldn't handle that many, and I was too overwhelmed to sign up and pay for so many individual services. That's when an idea sparked – an all-in-one, customizable, user-friendly app for all chronic illnesses.

My vision was to help as many patients and caregivers as I could, not just focus on a cancer app. From real-life experience, I knew that wouldn't be the most helpful tool for all chronic illness patients. I wanted a tool that was easy to use, straight to the point, where anyone from pediatrics to geriatrics and their caregivers could really benefit from.

I excitedly shared my vision with my husband and then my mom, and their immediate response was, "Great! Go for it, if anybody can do this, you can!" And so, I did.

From that personal need, Team Med: Medical Planner App was born. We created this app with all ages, illnesses, patients, and family caregivers in mind. It is designed to help you organize and manage the overwhelming aspects of chronic illness, from appointments and meal trains to symptoms and prescriptions, and even your overall well-being. Our goal is to empower you to Control your Care!

Having walked this journey myself, navigating caregiving, motherhood, and a career, I understand the struggles and the triumphs. I am here to help you every step of the way.
